There’s no need for whiskey-
this don’t call for no toast
I keep my spirits sober-
when I commune with ghosts
Take a mouthful, let it linger on
Cold coffee in my cup tonight
A winter storm, west county-
they were closing down the road
I pulled into town, where I found you alone
In that restaurant, at that table
We lingered on
Cold coffee in my cup tonight
A Rocky Mountain vista-
with its thirsty sky
We drank up those old foothills-
Then said goodbye
The sun’s going down now-
let it linger on
Cold coffee in my cup tonight
